Pool Legends New TD Guide

Room: Afraid to Lose

This guide is designed for new TD's who have no prior experience running tournaments in Cases/MyLeague

Creating A Tournament
1. Choose either single elim or double elim(two losses til you are eliminated)
2. Click the day you want to host the tourney. The current day is in red.
3. Click the time you wish to have your tourney start. Estimate the best you can. It is better to underestimate than over estimate.
4. Fill in tournament details.
     - Type in the name for your tourney (format) example: Reg 8 or Bank 8 ball or cue.
     - Location is Afraid To Lose (ATL).
     - Number of rounds is 5 for all t's unless you have a Fast Four. Cases auto adjusts the rounds for you so dont worry about that.
     - Put 10 in the mins between rounds box.
     - Number of players per team - this is where you would change the format to a 2x2 tourney.
     - Teams competing in match - leave this at 2 always.
     - Random Partners - check this box if you want cases to chooose the teams for a partner tourney.
     - Membership required, multiple day, invitation only, ladder stats, and Toc options - never change these. Leave them the way they are.
     - Ladderbux - Your first 5 tournaments have to be free. After you've completed 5, you can have No Entry fee and Bux to top finishers (small bux). After you have complete 10 tourneys you can charge any amount of bux you want from 0 to 100. We encourage you to generally charge 15-35 bux. Occassionly you can host a bigger bux tourney.

Running Your Tourney
1. Open Check-In so that players can check in to play. If they are registered but not checked-in they will be dropped when you close.
2. Click Customize Tourney Rules on TD page. Put in the rules for your tournament.
3. Now you are ready to advertise your tourney. Spam in the lobby of ATL your tourney info.
4. When you are read to close your tourney, click Close Tournament.
5. Next, click Start tournament.
6. Now your tourney has started and the players are able to begin playing.
7. Check the lobby for reports. Some players report to the tourney page and some do not. We encourage players to report to tourney page themselves but if they do not the TD reports the matches. Frequently refresh your tourney page and monitor tables to make sure your tourney is up to date and players are playing.
8. When it is finals in your tourney (2 players left) you should invite the two players to a table and announce it in the lobby (Example: Finals at table 38 for my Reg 8 tourney between Lucky and Poolshark). Also, if they are quick the players can invite themselves to finals and are asked to invite the TD also. If they do not, find the table immediately.

Closing Your Tourney
1. Once a winner has been report to your tourney page you can close.
2. Follow easy step and make sure the info is correct.
3. After the bux are awarded, copy and paste the bux info into your spammer and spam the lobby with it so the players know how much they won.
4. Continue following the steps until you see it say "Your tournament is completed".

Tourney Rules
You MUST have rules on your tourney page. We have our tourney rules guide located on the league page. Also, you can find the guide at www.poollegends.com/coc . Instead of changing the rules from your tourney every time you host one, simply copy and paste the tourney rules at the very bottom of the "Code of Conduct/Tourney Rules" guide listed above and save it as your default. Then, you always have your rules in place and don't have to worry about it! The players can then refer to the rules on your page so you don't have to answer questions about what each tourney rules are!

Courtesy Rules
Always ask in the lobby if anyone has the next tournament. When you want to host, you should be aware of what is in progress at the current time so you know what is best to make (regular or fast four). Of course sometimes, it is nice to ask what type of tournament members want but for the most part, you should just make what you wish to run. Also, you should ask the current TD of the regular tournament if it is ok to spam. If the TD has not responded, an admin or HTD may tell you that you may spam. During Morning Madness, you do not need to ask who has next, just make it and keep them coming!

Spammers
If you already have a spammer then you are good to go. If not you can get in touch with poolshark_bb for a version of Perfect Keyboard or you can download Keytext from www.mjmsoft.com. There are more spammers out there but these two are well known. For the full version of Keytext for free enter in this code...
Name: Hornet       Unlock Code: 5457-50CI-8SCG.

How to Use KeyText:
1. After you download, there is an icon next to the time on your computer on the bottom right of the screen.
2. Right click icon, click settings. Under options tab, move the cursor to the fastest possible speed under "speed for running macro". Under the Settings tab, type in the code listed above in this box. Click ok when done.
3. Right click icon, click edit text items. You see a box pop up with letters ranging from A to Z. Each of the letters is a different space to type up your spams. You will put your spams into these text boxes. You can have as many as you want. Under each letter is also a little box in the top right corner, this is the title box and helps you remember your spams. Click ok when you are done.
4. To spam, choose the text window you willl spam in (room lobby). Now, you willl LEFT click and click the letter and title you want to spam. (Example: if you tourney spam is in letter A you will click A: whatever title you put)
5. Please try this out in a private room first to make sure you get everything correct and lined up.

There is also a spammer out currently called Shortkeys Lite. It can be found by going to www.download.com and typing "Shortkeys" in the search box. This is the trial version, the full unlocked version is not available to us.

How To Use Shortkeys Lite:
1. After downloading and installing Shortkeys, there should be a yellow key shaped icon in the bottom right area of your screen near your system clock. Double Click This. This should open the main shortkeys box and you should see 15 blank lines available for spam creation.
2. Right click any of the blank lines and a little box should open. Click "Add Shortkey" to continue.
3. After doing so, another box will open up with a rather large section of white. This is where the actual spam that people will see in the Pool Legends Lobby goes.
4. Make your spam, making sure that you include the jump number(s), entry fee(s), and tourney type(s) in your spam.
5. At the top left part of this box, there is a white box with the label "Original Shortkey" beside it. This is where your command will go. We recommend you use something very rarely typed in the lobby, or anywhere for that matter, such as "tspam" or "pltourneyspam"
6. Click the X on the window. It will ask if you want to save. Click "Yes". You now have a spam.
7. To test out your spam, go to a training table, maximize the screen, and type your command in the chat box. This is just to ensure you are comfortable with how the spam looks and to make sure you think others know what needs to be known.

Weekly Specials

If you are interested in hosting a weekly, contact an admin
to get on the waiting list. If you are a TD that is lucky enough to be in charge of one of PL's weeklys please make sure your tourney is made at least 24 hours in advance. For weeklies, we ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before your weekly is supposed to start. If you can not make it or will be late please try to notify a HTD or admin or post on the tagboard so it can still be run for you. Real life stuff happens and you can not always make it but there is NO reason that your tourney should not be on the calender because you can make your tourney 6 days in advance if need to. We ask that the tourney be on the calender so that no tourneys are made in this time slot instead of the weekly and everybody is aware that it will take place every week. Also, it is easier for a HTD to run it than have to make it and run it. If you fail to not make your tourney 3 times or more you are subject to losing your weekly unless you've notified an admin of a problem. Finally, please update the weekly page with the winner and runner-up that we have given you when you get your weekly!

Fast Fours
Fast fours are quick 4 person tourneys that help members stay active and not be bored. PL's rule is that fast fours can be made at any time in the day with a few rules in regards to that. Only ONE fast four may be spammed at a time. You may make as many as you can fit in but only one is allowed to be spammed at a time to give all TD's a chance to host some. More Fast Four rules are listed on the Code of Conduct/Tourney Rules guide.

Marathon Day
Pool Legends hosts a "Marathon Day" on the last Saturday of each month. On Marathon Days we have only a few rules for TD's. First, each TD is only allowed to spam up to 2 tourneys at a time (Example: 3 td's could spam at a time with 2 each having 6 spammed tourneys). This does not mean you can only have 2 open tourneys, it only means that 2 can be spammed at at time. Also, we only allow ONE line spams for Marathon Day. If you have 2 tourneys to spam they both must fit on that one line! We do this so the lobby is open for reports. League address spams may be your normal ones in length. Please be courteous to all your fellow TD's! If another TD needs jumpers help them out! You can't expect for people to jump your tourneys if you do not jump theirs. TEAMWORK IS THE KEY TO MARATHON DAY!!!!
